“Singing with children in the schools has been the most rewarding experience of my life,” “A good song reminds us what we’re fighting for.” – Pete Seeger
About WITS
The Walkabout Clearwater Chorus was founded by Pete Seeger in 1984 and is dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and social activism through song, education and other activities.
Our mission for the WITS program is to continue Pete’s legacy and bring folk music and social awareness into our schools and empower our children through song. Our program is designed to expose the children to the social and environmental issues of today as well as to events of the past. History has shown how powerful a folk song can be, from the civil rights and antiwar movements to worker’s rights, the Black Lives Matter movement and the Worldwide Climate Crisis.
